About
Andrea Honsberg (b. 1996, Mexico) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, soft sculpture, video, and installation. She lives and works in London. Honsberg completed her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in 2024, following a BA in Painting and Visual Arts at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti. In 2017, she lived in Florence, where she studied traditional painting and drawing techniques, an experience that continues to inform the technical precision underlying her more experimental approaches today.
Honsberg’s practice examines personal imagery and identity in relation to the complexities of contemporary life, often refracted through the lens of her cultural background. Her works draw on anecdotes, narratives, and elements of folly, deliberately embracing contrast to expose the tension between vulgarity and decency, tradition and pop culture, acceptance and rejection. She invites viewers to confront sticky situations and our most unpleasant experiences through the lens of resilience and humor.
Recent exhibitions include Lazy-Tasty Land, Somers Gallery, London (2025); Exquisite Corpse, Saatchi Gallery, London (2024); RCA2024 Postgraduate Show, Royal College of Art, London (2024); Flashcards, Piccola Galleria, Bolzano (2022); Flashcards, Kühlhaus, Berlin (2022); Errore di Calcolo, Project Space, Milan (2019); and Class of ’23, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan (2023).
Honsberg has been selected for the Hypha Curates Platform, where her work will feature in upcoming exhibitions that foreground emerging international voices. Through this, and through ongoing collaborations with other artists, she continues to expand her practice into new cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural contexts.
